ISB Round 3 Easter Monday
We arrived with plenty of time on Sunday evening and got the camp set up and headed off to bed for about 9pm. We were up and ready for scrutineering and all was going well as we prepared for our 'free practice' run before qualifying.
Warren only managed a lap and a half before the 'mismatch' of engines gave-up putting an end to our day!
We kinda knew we were clutching at straws to make the engine last all day although we had to try with the parts we had.
Obviously now with time before the next round we will replace all the damaged parts with new ones and all being well will be on the track again soon.
We have now dropped to tenth place in the championship having only completed 3 races out of 8.

The bike has been rebuilt and ready to go. She sounds really good although we are not using our 'trick' heads on the bike so performance may be down a little.
I have made a few adjustments on some crucial things and I am looking forward to good outing Kirkistown! (My engine breaker circuit!)

ISB Round 2 Easter Friday & Saturday
In preparation for the Easter weekend we decided to do a test day at Kirkistown as Warren hasn't raced there in over 16 years! Our last test here a few weeks ago only lasted a couple of laps before the engine failed.
There were a few bugs to start with including putting the correct gearing on and the bike was performing very well. With one session to go we lost power down the back straight and came in. To our amazement we had blown another engine!

With round 2 of the championship just 2 days away there would be no way of rebuilding the bike in time. When we arrived back home Warren spent Wednesday evening stripping the engine down to find that a Big-End Bearing had collapsed and shattered.
After only a few hours sleep Warren was up early and worked all day stripping the other 'failed' engine to try and get the parts to put it all back together.
After hours and hours of work we had to concede on the grounds of safety. The bike could have been built and ready although with only a few hours sleep the previous night and no time for sleep before Fridays race it would have been too dangerous and totally irresponsible to attempt to go out.

This will knock us from 4th in the championship probably down to tenth or so!?
We will have to see.

We also had about 30 minutes worth of trying to retrieve the end of a broken sparkplug from one of the heads after the rebuild. Thought we might have had to remove the head again!

ISB Round 1
Got there late Thursday night n went straight to sleep! Went out on Friday afternoon testing (£90!) and done about 3 or 4 practice sessions. A guy Gary Lyons who came 2nd in the championship a couple of years ago was going round in 1:04.. at the start I couldn't manage to get under 1:10.. but by the end of the day I got down to 1:06/7.
This was ok because I was using a set of tyres from last year that were frigged!
Saturday free practice (3 flyin laps) I got 1:06:7 and when it came to qualifying I got a 1:04! and was 7th fastest 400cc. Because we were out with the very quick SV's this put all the 400's roughly in the middle of the grid.

Race 1. I got a really crap start and finished 5th in my class with a best time of 1:04:8
Race 2. I got another really crap start and finished 5th in my class with a best time of 1:02:8!!! **3rd fastest 400cc!** :D
Race 3. I got a usual crap start again and finished 4th in my class with a best time of 1:03 beating Lyons and another guy that previously had the better of me.

With all the points put together I am lying 4th in the championship and will be tuning the bike over the next 2 weeks hopefully before Bishopscourt and Kirkistown.
:D

(FRIDAY THE 13TH STRIKES!)
Testing at Kirkistown. I did 1 and a half laps before my engine gave up!
I believe it is the crank as I have taken the head off and can't see any obvious damage.
The championship starts in 6 days at Mondello Park and I need to source and fit a new engine!!

7th March 09
Testing at Bishopscourt.
Went really well although I was on a set of used (dry) tyres from last year and it rained most of the day.
